Jedi Fallen Order team announce new Star Wars game but it’s not what you were expecting
Respawn Entertainment recently shuttered some projects, but there’s good news â the studio is working on a new Star Wars title, but it’s nothing like what they’ve done before
Just over a month since we heard Respawn Entertainment had cancelled a project in development, the studio that can’t seem to miss is back â but this time it’s a little different.
The studio, which was formed of former Call of Duty devs, took its first steps with Titanfall and its superlative sequel, before turning its attention to its team-based battle royale Apex Legends.

Aside from shooters, Respawn is behind two of the best Star Wars action games of all time, too, with Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor being big hits. So, what’s next?
As it happens, what’s next is more Star Wars, but with a complete genre shift.
Zero Company is a single-player Star Wars strategy game
Zero Company, revealed on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, will get a full reveal at Star Wars Celebration in Japan later this week.

“Recruit an unconventional team of operatives and deploy them on missions unlike any other in the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars Zero Company!” a blog post explains.
“The newly announced single-player turn-based tactics game, developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, will share the first details about the game currently in development with attendees at Star Wars Celebration Japan.”
According to the post, the image in the post shows “just a few members of the elite squad under your command”.

As per VGC, the game is in development at Bit Reactor, with Respawn producing. If the name Bit Reactor doesn’t sound familiar, then you should know it was formed by XCOM and Civilization veterans from Firaxis, and therefore boasts some fantastic talent with history in the strategy genre.
If Bit Reactor can bring those XCOM sensibilities to a tactical Star Wars game, then we’re all on board â we’ve seen Firaxis try the same with Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
While that game didn’t draw the sales it deserved, it was a fantastic strategy title in its own right. Here’s hoping Zero company can follow suit.
