New Terminator 2 game announced and it looks like a retro dream come true
In our AI-obsessed world, there’s always time for a cautionary tale â and this retro-style 2D side-scroller from Reef Entertainment looks like an incredible Terminator 2 retelling
It’s been a hectic February for game releases, and March looks stacked with some fantastic games to get stuck into as well, but we’re already wishing there was some time machine doohickey we could use to jump to September.
That’s because Terminator 2D: No Fate has been announced, and while the Terminator franchise has a spotty history with video games, this one looks particularly special because it converts the events of James Cameron’s superlative sequel into a pixellated, retro-style side scroller.

And, honestly, it looks absolutely incredible â take a look at the trailer below, which showcases how it looks like a game from 1991, but with a modern sheen.
Terminator 2D: No Fate announced
“Play as Sarah Connor and the T-800 through a variety of thrilling missions as they take on the T-1000 and try to put a stop to Skynetâs plans before the human race is annihilated,” the YouTube trailer description reads.
“Lead the Resistance as John Connor in the future, fighting on the front lines as mankindâs only hope in the War Against the Machines. In this unique story blending iconic scenes from âTerminator 2: Judgment Dayâ with original scenarios and multiple endings, humanityâs fate is yours to decide.”

The multiple endings certainly has us intrigued, suggesting there could be a way to stop Judgement Day from ever happening â or accidentally bring it forward.
Developer Bitmap Bureau announced the game last week, and it’s targeting a September 5 release date on Xbox, Switch, PC, and PlayStation.

The trailer shows classic scenes including the big rig chase, Sarah Connor’s breakout from the prison, and even Arnie fighting people in the buff.
Add in some futuristic battles against the machines as John Connor, and this looks like a dream adaptation. And don’t get us started on that music…
